1933

Inventor Hyman L. Witman is granted a U.S. patent for “posture foundation” arch support.

1937

B.F. Goodrich launches PF canvas shoe featuring Posture Foundation arch support.

1944f

PF introduces their first kids’ collection — PF Flyers — just in time for the arrival of the Baby Boomers.

1948

The PF women’s line launches, offering women coordinating skirt-and-shoe sets.

1950

PF Flyers are standard-issue military footwear for certain outfits

1958

PF Flyers becomes the first brand to enlist an all-star athlete — Boston Celtics’ Bob Cousy — to market a pair of sneakers. This year, 14 million pairs of PF Flyers are sold.

1962

PF Magic Shoe Adventure comic book and TV show launches. Even on the moon, PF helps kids run faster, jump higher.

1964

20% of all canvas sneakers worn are PF’s.

1971

The son of baseball legend Hammerin’ Hank Aaron wears his Flyers in a PF ad in Boys’ Life magazine.

1972

B.F. Goodrich leaves the shoe business and sells PF Flyers to Eltra Corporation, the parent company of Converse.

1975

In response to anti-trust concerns of the Justice Department, both Converse and PF Flyers are sold. The brand lays dormant from 1975-2000.

1993

PF Flyers roars into pop culture relevance thanks to the nostalgia-soaked baseball classic, “The Sandlot.”

2001

New Balance purchases PF Flyers and begins the process of reviving the brand.

2005

The beloved Sandlot sneaker is re-launched.

2012

PF celebrates its 75th anniversary.

For The Sandlot movie’s 20th anniversary, PF launches the Secret Weapon Sandlot sneaker, a replica of the exact shoe worn by Benny in the movie.

2014

PF re-launches the iconic rambler in a collaboration with American menswear designer, Todd Snyder.

2015

PF Flyers gets back to their roots in domestic manufacturing, launching the Made In USA collection.

2017

The All American is relaunched. PF Flyers heritage meets New Balance performance technology in the newly redesigned All American.
